A new collective Bay Area original jazz quartet, spearheaded by trombonist and musical polymath, Rob Ewing with Beth Schenck, alto sax; Lisa Mezzacappa, bass and Jordan Glenn, drums.. The ensemble explores a vast terrain of music that swings, grooves, floats, careens and carouses, featuring compositions by all four members of the band. Ewing is a dynamic and versatile trombonist (and drummer, and bassist) who performs regularly in the Electric Squeezebox Orchestra and Brass Magic, and leads the bands Junior Reggae and Disappear Incompletely. Schenck writes expansive, imaginative music for her saxophone quartet, Social Suttter, and her ensembles the Guthrie Project and House of Faern. Mezzacappa's music ranges from conceptual improv projects with the drums and bass ensemble, duo B., to intricately composed suites for improvising sextet. One of the area's most in-demand percussionists known for his distinctive compositional voice, Glenn leads the sax and drums trio, Wiener Kids, and the conducted improv ensemble, Beak.
