RiRaeRo combines stories with improvised music. The stories tend to be very personal and the music has varying degrees of formal structure, and is also very personal. Maybe something like a soft conversation late at night in the dark.


Transient is David R Molina’s electro-acoustic, ambient, noise, sound art, free improvisation project. It can be solo or collaborative. For this concert he will be possibly be playing: pedal effects, Ableton Live, voice, guitar, invented instruments, and maybe Cello.
David R Molina is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, sound artist/designer, music producer, recording engineer, and instrument inventor. He has created music and sound for all the performing arts disciplines, film, radio, and multimedia installations and productions for the past 22 years. Theater has allowed him to collaborate with companies nationally and internationally. The majority of his work addresses social justice issues: ranging from racial profiling, police brutality, immigrant rights, border crossing, the U.S. prison complex, the environment, and imperialism.
Awards include LA Ovation Sound Design for Lydia at Mark Taper Forum (2009), Creative Capital Grant (2009) and Wattis Fund (2011) with Secos Y Mojados, and InterMusic SF’s MGP (2016). Frequent collaborators include Cause Collective, Hank Willis Thomas, Violeta Luna, Rhodessa Jones, Roberto G. Varea, NAKA Dance Theater, Naomi Rincon Gallardo, and Juliette Carrillo.
In 2010 he began inventing instruments from salvaged and discarded materials. These instruments and various multimedia collaborations were featured at SFMOMA, The Broad (LA), Oakland Museum of California, Mcloughlin Gallery, Asterisk Gallery, and SOMArts.
Molina has performed many styles of music throughout North and South America, and Europe. He was former guitarist for The Pyramids, and played many instruments in Ackamoor/Molina Duet. Other band collaborators include: TAU (Berlin), Emanative (UK), El Paso (Peru).
Molina’s own bands and projects include: Impuritan, Ghosts and Strings, and Transient.
