Beth Custer: Drawdown

Beth Custer premieres her latest chamber composition, an evening-length work based on the compelling Paul Hawken book Drawdown: 100 Solutions to Reverse Global Warming.

The ensemble features Custer on voice/clarinets, cellist Freya Seeburger and her ensemble Juxtapositions with Mia Nardi-Huffman (violin), Naomi Stine (piano) and special guest Jim Kassis on drums/percussion.

An eight-movement piece covering solutions for climate change as laid out in Drawdown, Custer has created a journey of musical styles from driving rhythmic cello loops, to plaintive solo violin, to chaotic chordal movement, Drawdown is Custer's latest installment of her works based on ecology.

Audiences will delight in the interplay between members of this lovely chamber group assembled especially for these premieres. Supported in part by an Individual Artists grant from San Francisco Arts Commission.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available at the link below, or you may purchase your tickets at the door the night of the show. Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash only at the door (ATMs are nearby).

The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own adult beverage with no additional corkage fee.
