VINNY GOLIA: As a composer Vinny Golia fuses the rich heritage of Jazz, contemporary classical and world music into his own unique compositions. Also a bandleader, Golia has presented his music to concert audiences in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the United States in ensembles varying dramatically in size and instrumentation. Mr. Golia has won numerous awards as a composer, including grants from The National Endowment of the Arts, The Lila Wallace Commissioning Program, The California Arts Council, Meet the Composer, Clausen Foundation of the Arts, Funds for U.S. Artists and the American Composers Forum. In 1982 he created the on-going 50 piece Vinny Golia Large Ensemble to perform his compositions for chamber orchestra and jazz ensembles. Vinny has been a featured performer with Anthony Braxton, Henry Grimes, John Carter, Bobby Bradford, Joelle Leandre, Leo Smith, Horace Tapscott, John Zorn, Tim Berne, Bertram Turetzky, George Lewis, Barre Phillips, The Rova Saxophone Quartet, Patti Smith, Harry “the Hipster” Gibson, Eugene Chadburne, Kevin Ayers, Peter Kowald, John Bergamo, George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, Misha Mengelberg, Han Bennick, Lydia Lunch, Harry Sparrney and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra amongst many others.
DANNY KAMINS: Danny Kamins is an improvising saxophonist based out of Houston, TX. His current musical endeavors include playing in the bands CARL, TelePrompTer, Deluge, Laktating Yak, and Etched in the Eye as well as directing the jazz program at Rice University.
Musicians he has performed/recorded with include Vinny Golia, Jack Wright, Jarrett Gilgore, Karlton Hester, David Leon, Jeb Bishop, Sandy Ewen, Paulina Owczarek, Jon Lundbom, Motoko Honda, Damon Smith, Luke Stewart, Michal Dymny, Alvin Fielder, Ra Kalam Bob Moses and NewMusic groups Le Train Bleu, Loop 38 and Transitory Sound and Movement Collective.
GARRETT WINGFIELD: Dallas/Fort Worth based saxophonist and composer Garrett Wingfield’s musical journeys weave through a magnitude of different genres, aesthetics, and performance mediums. He has both recorded with and written large jazz ensemble arrangements for many well renowned soloists, such as Andy Martin, Arturo Sandoval, Greg Gisbert, and Chuck Findley. Recently he contributed an arrangement to a recording project for His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand. His original composition, “Anthropoidea,” won a Downbeat Student Music Award for best Graduate Jazz Composition.
Garrett received a Bachelor’s degree in music composition from Texas Christian University and a Master’s degree in jazz composition at the University of North Texas. At UNT he conducted the Four O’ Clock Lab Band and was a teaching fellow in the jazz arranging department. He studied composition with Blaise Ferrandino and Richard DeRosa.
ANASTASIA CLARKE: Anastasia Clarke (she/they) is a New York-based composer, performer, and audio technologist working in live embodied electronic music performance. Anastasia's solo and collaborative projects use custom musical instruments and performing systems, functioning as sites for research and meaning-making around the subjects of physical instrument interaction, improvisation, and the healing efficacies of sound and listening work. In addition to performing in venues ranging from galleries and concert halls to DIY venues and intimate house shows across the United States, Anastasia has recently spoken or given hands-on presentations of their work with electronic hardware and software at NIME 2018, Expo ’74, The School for Poetic Computation, and Barnard College. Anastasia earned an MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College in 2018. In 2019, she is the recipient of a New Works Grant from the Queens Arts Fund, and will spend time in residence at EMS in Stockholm.
