Twerk 4 Mother Earth is an independent dance party series which will connect with the Soundwave Festival 9 theme of "Time" by traveling through three decades of dance music with genre bending DJ’s: Fela Kutchii, Namaste Shawty, Onmommas, and Red Corvette will produce past, present, and future soundscapes that make the body move. From 90’s Booty Bass, 2000’s Footwork, to today’s Future Beats, T4ME will ascend in a time travel twerk party for us all to get free.
About Soundwave:
Soundwave is a Bay Area festival featuring the most captivating sound art and performance experiences. This year the festival's theme is "time" and will feature art parties, performance, dance, video, and music for our boldest, most interdisciplinary festival to date. Artists explore subjects like intergenerational history, the cultivation of safe spaces for healing and joy within black, brown, and queer communities, art grown out of migration and displacement, and our current political reality.
About Twerk 4 Mother Earth / The House of Malico:
Twerk 4 Mother Earth is an independent dance party series born from qtipoc and bipoc tastemakers at The House of Malico. T4ME supports artist promoting an inclusive, consent-based culture in Oaklands art and culture community. Through curation of DJ’s, performers and documentation they create visibility of the qtipoc* & bipoc** underground music scene. T4ME is produeced by The House of Malico which collaborates with artists, brands and organizations to build creative productions and inclusive programming. The House of Malico intentionally centers and cultivates safe(r) spaces for healing and joy within black, brown and queer communities.
