Serving the San Francisco Bay Area New Music Community

Sun, Dec 8 2019 3:00 PM

The Women's Building
3543 18th Street #8 San Francisco, CA 94110

This family-friendly winter celebration begins with the visceral and reflective piece, "The Ice is Talking" by Vivian FUNG. Scored for solo percussion and electronics, it is in essence a celebration of the elements, taking in the beauty of gliding through ice as taps and swishes shape into virtuosic rhythmic patterns and end with dramatic flair, in the hope of raising awareness to the world around us. As the ice melts away, we create a “community-made” piece designed by Jason TREUTING, a member of the acclaimed So Percussion Quartet, titled "How to (Blank)." Audience members fill in the blanks with headlines captured from the day’s (good) news to add to the festive atmosphere. The audience is invited to bring an instrument and join in on Treuting's piece.

This event is free, open to the public, and family-friendly
A RSVP is not required, but it is encouraged.

"These are performances that break the usual sit-still-and-listen barrier."
