8:15 pm Jordan Perry - solo guitar
9:00 pm Jordan Glenn - solo percussion/drums

Jordan Perry is a guitarist, composer, and educator currently living in Charlottesville, Virginia. His work, mostly centered around solo guitar, attempts to reconcile numerous influences and positionings, navigating the cloudy spaces between formal processes and an intuitive vernacular. While embracing the limitations of guitar, his work is a process of re-membering -- instrumental tropes laid out, decontextualized in a nondescript rubble pile.

Of his 2016 self-titled LP, poet and music writer Byron Coley writes “Although there are some basic volk sonorities in his playing, Mr. Perry’s brunt combines these with more avant garde note selections and compositional gambits, as well as a string attack with classical qualities. While there’s a gentleness to the melodies at which he eventually arrives, Perry’s journey across prickly patches of tones clusters has a circular logic too that defies pop logic.”

Jordan's early years involved drawing cartoons and taking dance classes from his aunt. At the age of 12 music and movies took over and he studied classical percussion, jazz and made short movies with his friends during high school. During college he played a lot of dinner-jazz gigs and recorded/toured in various rock bands.
In 2006 he relocated to the Bay Area and since then have been lucky enough to cross paths with Fred Frith, William Winant, Zeena Parkins, Roscoe Mitchell, Anantha Krishnan, Ben Goldberg, John Schott, Cory Wright, Aram Shelton, Steini Gunnarsson, Dominique Leone, Darren Johnston, Graham Connah, and the bands Jack O’ the Clock, Host Family, Efft, 20 Minute Loop, The Monolith, Beep!, tUnE-yArDs, Science Fiction, Evon, Arts & Sciences, and the Oakland Active Orchestra.
