MORE INFO ON GHANDHI/LAROCCA/MILBERGER:

The Larocca/Ghandhi/Milberger trio is a radically new sound that prides itself in the
necessity of invention and resourcefulness of improvisation. Bridging several genres including
noise, drone, free jazz as well as others this improvising trio creates a new dynamic sound that is
highly unexpected. Playing for the first time in fall of 2019, the group is set to record and release
an album that will be available on their winter 2020 tour of California. Each member being
powerful composers/improvisers means that everyone is bringing something to the table here.

Michael Larocca plays drums, percussion, electronics, and also composes both acoustic
and electroacoustic music. (He's also a painter!) He is mainly based around NYC and CT for
performances, but plays around the east coast regularly. He is currently the drummer for multiple
bands, among them being Foxtails and Controlled Bleeding, but he focuses a lot of his time
playing improvised music with many different musicians.

Jonathan Milberger was born in Omaha, Nebraska. Moving across the country in his
youth due to his father’s own career in music, Jonathan eventually settled in the small
Appalachian city of Roanoke, Virginia, where he spent his teenage years. There he was inspired
to take up the saxophone, after learning clarinet, in order to join his middle school, and later his
high school jazz band. During his first year of high school he decided to pursue music full time
and soon after his graduation received a scholarship to move to New York City and study music
at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Functioning equally as a composer and
performer, Jonathan’s musical influences range from composers such as Beethoven, Bach,
Ravel, Mozart and The Beatles, to improvisors such as Sonny Rollins, Albert Ayler, Cecil Taylor
and John Coltrane. Jonathan received his Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance from The New
School in May of 2019.

Kaelen Ghandhi is a New York based improviser, saxophonist, composer, and educator
with a Jazz Performance degree from The New School. While his main instrument is tenor
saxophone, he is also proficient in flute, clarinet, and alto, soprano and baritone saxophones. His
playing and compositional style derives inspiration from both improvised music and modern
jazz. Having studied extensively with artists like Tony Malaby, Joe Morris, and Andrew Cyrille
as well as Seamus Blake, Joel Frahm, and Chris Cheek, his music is forward thinking and
bridges multiple styles. Recent projects include a West coast tour (Summer 2018) and concerts in
the tri-state area with Aaron Rubinstein and Kevin Murray in the improvising trio
Ghandhi/Murray/Rubinstein. Additionally Kaelen is a member of William Parker’s Little Huey
Creative Music Orchestra.
