On Saturday, March 7 at 7:30pm, Tom's Place presents

Greg Goodman (piano)
Henry Kaiser (guitar)
solos and duo

Henry Kaiser (guitar) and Greg Goodman (piano, immaculé ou avec des objets étrangers) are both old friends of Tom's Place, but we've never had them on the same bill. They played together a lot in the 1970s and '80s but that collaboration petered out as the millennium approached. Tonight, after a long (24 year!) hiatus they will reassemble to play both solo and en duo. I'm looking forward to it.

Bio stuff:

Prolific guitar icon Henry Kaiser has pursued the free-improv muse since the 1970s, working solo and in dozens of groupings in both completely free and more composed settings like his Yo Miles project with Wadada Leo Smith, exploring Miles Davis's 1970s electric music and a collaboration with Bob Bralove regrooving Grateful Dead keyboard/guitar work in the rudest possible manner.

Greg Goodman is one of America's most distinguished improvising pianists. He is the proprietor of Woody Woodman's Finger Palace, the San Francisco Bay Area's longest running (since 1978) presenter of avant-garde music and theater. He also runs (from) the famous Beak Doctor Records.
