Derek Monypeny
Anne-Lesley Selcer
in/during (Min Yoon & Kevin Corcoran)

Derek Monypeny is a Joshua Tree, CA-based guitarist and oud player who has played in the bands Oaxacan, ALTO!, and Sir Richard Bishop's Freak Of Araby Ensemble. He has performed and toured with artists such as Bill Orcutt, Jozef van Wissem, Eva Aguila/Kevin Shields, Arrington de Dionyso, and many others.
"Derek, using tastefully deployed effects and small and patient gestures, digs deep into those thin places where all kinds of inner space visions can flourish. You could talk about the complex social organization and communication among undiscovered species of highly intelligent insects deep under the sands of Mars . . . or any pulsing pattern of pure electricity hurtling somewhere through deep space . . . or shortwave radio broadcasts of the latest tunes by mutant Touareg troubadours roaming the dark side of the moon . . . etcetera" -Larry Dolman, Blastitude magazine
"Monypeny...makes a stake for a conception of the parameters of variously translated formal/cultural/biological folk modes as the keys to the goddamn kingdom that is every bit as persuasive as Sun City Girls at their most alien." -David Keenan, Volcanic Tongue

Anne Lesley Selcer is the author of SUN CYCLE (Cleveland State University Poetry Center, 2019), awarded the First Poetry Book Prize by CA Conrad, BLANK SIGN BOOK (Wolfman Books, 2019), a book of art writing, and A Book of Poems on Beauty, winner of the Gazing Grain Press Award. She also wrote Banlieusard, and Untitled (a treatise on form) as commissioned works for art spaces. Anne Lesley’s writing can be found in Jacket2, Fence, Hyperallergic, The Chicago Review, and Gauss PDF among others, as well as in exhibition catalogs. Her writing occasionally manifests as video, performance, or sound. She recently performed The Sadness of the Supermarket: A Lament for Certain Girls, a poetry-based sound piece with live opera, and is currently engaged in collaborations with artists around SUN CYCLE.

in/during is the percussion and butoh duo of Min Yoon and Kevin Corcoran.

Min Yoon is a butoh dancer and ritual performance artist. They are dedicated to exploring ways to uncover the deeper, more intuitive nature in how we relate to our beings within extremes of social constructs and divides, through art, butoh dance, and philosophy, and all that may arise from this uncovering. Min started butoh dance, out of the darkest moments in their life, to dive into deeper landscapes and research the images, opening, and movement we need for our times. Butoh is an expressive mode of dance that seeks to find what is deep within, beyond what is socially accepted in a pursuit of new expressions of truth. They have studied and performed with master butoh teachers Atsushi Takenouchi of Jinen Butoh School in Italy, Anastazia Louise of Bad Unkl Sista, and Mizu Desierto of Water in the Desert. Min’s artistic works have been funded by Kultuuri Kaupilla in Finland, The City of Oakland, and The Battery Club of San Francisco.
