UC Berkeley's daring and accomplished ensemble-in-residence comprises contemporary music specialists from throughout the Bay Area, directed by new-music champion David Milnes. Praised by the New York Times as a "dream team of local musicians who embody a high point in the Bay Area's vibrant contemporary music scene," Eco Ensemble, in permanent residence at CNMAT and the Department of Music, was founded in 2011 and in recent seasons has performed works by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Kaija Saariaho, and Martin Matalon. This concert will feature music from faculty composer with Keeril MAKAN (CAL PH.D. 2004). Guest artists Marilyn Nonken and Manuel Laufer will premiere Campion's new work for piano 4-hands, Late Bloomer.
