Jack Curtis Dubowsky, Charles Sharp, and Jeff Schwartz venture on a California mini-tour to promote Dubowsky’s 2022 album, Bolsa Chica Calm, an ambient homage to Bolsa Chica State Beach. Bolsa Chica Calm references ambient, environmental, new age, and experimental music, from vaporwave to Wendy Carlos’ “Sonic Seasonings.” It includes two extended, midcentury-inspired meditations with real strings, winds, piano, analog synthesizers, and field recordings.
Says Dubowsky: “As a surfer, composer, and historian of easy listening, I combined some of my interests and put them into musical practice in making this album.”
Composer, author, filmmaker Jack Curtis Dubowsky works in concert music, improvisation, and live performance. His output includes three books, a documentary feature, and musical compositions in multiple genres. Jack Curtis Dubowsky Ensemble combines composed material and structured improvisation and has played theatres and venues nationwide, presenting live scores to silent and experimental film.
