On Friday, November 18 at 8:00pm, Tom's Place presents

Robin Holcomb/Wayne Horvitz duo
Wayne Horvitz, solo piano

We're pleased to be able to present an evening with Robin Holcomb and Wayne Horvitz.

Robin Holcomb's new recording featuring solo piano and voice, "One Way or Another" has just been released and will, I believe, feature prominently in the evening's proceedings. I like how the Village Voice describes her: "Satie goes to Appalachia, Morricone goes to the Knitting factory, and you, dear art-folk fan, die and go to heaven."

Wayne Horvitz will open the program with a solo piano set. A stylistically wide-ranging, yet distinctive pianist and composer, he has earned accolades for his mix of jazz, post-rock, classical, and avant-garde influences. He initially came to prominence on the downtown New York scene of the '70s and '80s, working with fellow mavericks like John Zorn, Butch Morris, Bill Frisell, and others. He is an original member of Zorn's Naked City, and a co-founder, along with his wife, the aforementioned Robin Holcomb, of the New York Composers Orchestra.

We obviously have to make some COVID-related accomodations. Seating will be strictly limited -- we may have to turn you away if we fill our (reduced) capacity. You must be able to prove that you are vaccinated against COVID, and you must wear a mask while on the premises. We won't have any snacks, because it seems to me like that's incompatible with masking.

What constitutes adequate proof of vaccination? Any of these:
1) CDC-issued vaccination record card
2) a photo of your card on your phone
3) A digital record as issued by https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov
You'll also need some sort of ID, so we can tell that the vaccination record is yours!
