The recorder duo of David Barnett and Tom Bickley
pre-modern music for post-modern ears and vice versa

This duo spans the centuries by placing 14th century music in conversation with newly composed works and improvisations. They explore the sonic possibilities of the recorder, ranging from its simple traditional sound to enthusiastic use of extended techniques, including multiphonics, microtones and timbral variations.
Three Trapped Tigers is an ensemble of recorder players whose core members are David Barnett and Tom Bickley. Their first performance was on 21 June 2003 as part of the Garden of Memory Summer Solstice Concert at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA. Over the last 15 years, they have performed on numerous concerts series in diverse venues. Their concerts reflect their varied musical and world interests. They strive to present the kind of concerts that they would like to go to and hope you enjoy it too!
