rob reich / Beth Goodfellow Quartet with Ben Goldberg & Daniel Fabricant
Sun, November 20, 7:30pm – 9:30pm
rob reich is quintessentially what makes the San Francisco music scene a vibrant and vital mecca for independent music; he’s become one of its stalwart underground artists. His music defies genre, combining strong melodic ideas, rhythmic drive, and a Spirit of irreverence and experimentation. He is best known for his work with Tin Hat, Gaucho, and Circus Bella.

Elizabeth Goodfellow, now based in Los Angeles, has been a long-time collaborator with Reich. Beth grew up in Northern California’s San Joaquin Valley and started playing drums at age eleven at local harvest festivals. Her first professional drumming job was playing in the Air Force National Guard Band of the West Coast while studying classical percussion performance at San Jose State University. In 2003 she was selected to the IAJE’s Sisters in Jazz Quintet which performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival. After working for over a decade in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene, an appearance on America’s Got Talent in 2012 and a studio recording job with Swedish singer Per Gessle (Roxette) inspired her to move to Los Angeles to pursue her music career further.

Here's recent video of the collaboration of Reich and Goodfellow (4 minutes)

Reich writes: "Last summer I released a pandemic-era EP, "Cloisters". I've been hoping to make music videos for all 4 songs from that collection. I'm happy to present the first video from that series: "Reflections", featuring Elizabeth Goodfellow.

"Elizabeth was visiting recently from LA and we got together in my living room for our first post-vaccination jam. It was an exhilarating and cathartic experience to play together again! Listening back now, I am amazed by the fluid way she moves between various sonic textures."
