On Sunday, November 12 at 8:00pm, Tom's Place presents

Trevor Watts (saxes) and Jamie Harris (percussion)
Tim Duff (bass) and Joshua Allen (sax)

Trevor Watts has been playing improvised music at the highest level for a long time now. He was a founder, along with John Stevens, of London's Spontaneous Music Ensemble in the 1960s and has continued in too many groupings to enumerate. For the last 20 years, he has regularly played with percussionist Jamie Harris. Together, they have traveled to Mongolia, The USA, Canada, Mexico, The Dominican Republic and Brazil among other locations, and now Berkeley.

Josh Allen has created his own personal language on the tenor saxophone, with an emphasis on polytonal and asymmetrical phrasing, as well as extending the range and sonic ability of the instrument. His association with saxophonist Marco Eneidi led to working relationships with musicians such as Glen Spearmann, Matthew Goodheart, Damon Smith, and eventually Cecil Taylor.

Tim Duff is a songwriter, bass player and pianist whose interests run from energy music to Tin Pan Alley. He and Josh work as a duo (as tonight), and as the core of several larger groupings.

COVID still hasn't gone away, so we have to make some accomodations to it. Seating will be strictly limited -- we may have to turn you away if we fill our (reduced) capacity. You must be vaccinated against COVID, and you must wear a mask while on the premises. We won't have any snacks, because it seems to me like that's incompatible with masking.
