The Erika Oba Trio (Erika Oba - piano, Chris Bastian - bass, Jeremy Steinkoler - drums) and special guest vocalist Roopa Mahadevan, celebrate the release of Ghosts on the Water, a new album themed around ecology, ritual, and heritage. The album will feature original works, as well as arrangements of Japanese and Okinawan folk songs.
Drawing on influences ranging from Thelonious Monk to Okinawan folk music, the band deftly navigates from be-bop to classically influenced, through-composed pieces, captivating audiences with music coming from deep listening and a remarkably intuitive sense of comping and phrasing to support one another.
