Jean Carla Rodea with Splinter Reeds: Brume
Brume is an immersive multimedia performance developed by Jean Carla Rodea during their residency at the Dresher Ensemble Studio. The work will be presented on Friday, August 15 at Dresher Ensemble Studio (2201 Poplar St., Oakland), alongside other works composed for Splinter Reeds by
Zachary James Watkins and Karola Obermüller.
Inspired by the breath in all its forms—from intimate exhalations to the fog drifting across the Marin Headlands—Brume explores air as both a bodily presence and an environmental force. Through spatialized sound, the work transforms the space into a resonant, living system of sound and light.
"I'm very pleased to announce the upcoming premiere of Brume, a new work for reed quintet, voice, electronics, and video. This piece has been developed for the amazing Splinter Reeds and could not have been possible without the generous support from InterMusicSF and the DEAR Residency. I'm deeply grateful for this opportunity and honored that our project was selected for support." - jcr
