Max Boiko Quintet ft. Mar Vilaseca
Black Cat is proud to present a 4-night residency with trumpeter Max Boiko, one of the most exciting new voices in jazz, joined by the captivating vocalist Mar Vilaseca.
A graduate of the Brubeck Institute Fellowship Program and Manhattan School of Music, Max has quickly become a dynamic force in New York’s music scene. He has performed alongside icons including Steve Miller, Julianne Hough, Barry Manilow, and the GRAMMY-winning 8-Bit Big Band. In 2025, Max made his debut as a bandleader on GameChops with Live from Pallet Town, a breakout success that showcased his ability to seamlessly blend jazz tradition with the sounds of contemporary media. Beyond the stage, he co-founded the sold-out VGM Jam Sessions NYC, uniting a vibrant community of musicians and fans.
Max’s artistry reflects a rare balance: deep respect for the lineage of jazz and a bold embrace of modern influences. His performances radiate both virtuosity and vision, taking audiences on a journey that is at once classic and cutting-edge.
Joining him for this special engagement is Barcelona-born vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Mar Vilaseca, hailed by Hermeto Pascoal as someone who “doesn’t just perform music, she is music.” A graduate of Juilliard’s Jazz Studies program, Mar has performed internationally at festivals from Spain to China to Colombia, and in the U.S. at Birdland, Smalls, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and The Django. With her warm sound, original compositions, and magnetic presence, she brings a powerful voice to this residency, making each night a unique meeting of two rising stars shaping the future of jazz.
