Dave Mihaly and the Shimmering Leaves group has been performing and recording music in San Francisco
for a number of years. They held down a residency at the Cafe Revolution where they were signed to
Porto Franco Records to record "Eastern Accents in the Far West". A later performance at the Elbo Room led to them being signed to Calar Records to make the "light in the Ring, the Ali Suite' lp and cd.
Tonight's band will be David Boyce on reeds and drums, Michael Cavaseno on guitars and effects, Jeff Hobbs on horns and strings, and
Dave Mihaly on drums, piano, and strings. The players mix genres and are adept improvisers of sounds and forms. Folkloric, futuristic, cerebral, and earthy. The music casts a wide net, and like any net, the spaces are as important as the string.
