Screening
Ryan Junell and J Lesser

New Langton Arts screens video projects by Ryan Junell and J Lesser including the animated clip art denizens of Soft Pink Truth (2002) and the companion Olsen twin videos We're Puttin' On Our PJs (For A Sleepover!) and Olscendental (Part One), both from 2002. The evening also offers a rare San Francisco showing of the video remix Stairway to Stardom (2002), a piece that combines found footage from an 80s New Jersey talent show and music by Lesser for a new glimpse of "go-nowhere aspirations" in the Garden State.

Ryan Junell is a member of the group Sagan and a frequent collaborator with noise artist Blevin Blectum. Originally from Austin, Texas, the San Francisco video artist and digital media designer is also one of the founders of Webzine, an annual public event celebrating non-commercial web projects.

J Lesser's sound art has garnered notice from Spin magazine and has been featured in the work of the experimental electronic group Matmos, who recently toured with Bjork on her Vespertine concert tour. This San Francisco-based DIY instrument-builder has toured extensively with the Post-Rock group A Minor Forest and has collaborated with Kid606 and Japanese noise sensation KK. Null.
