GONG GONG

The second annual Oakland Noise Fest, curated by Tyler Cox (Gong Gong, The Mass), brings to the bay area the harshest sounds the noise world has to offer. Listeners will be treated to a plethora of sonic extremes, cathartic performances and sounds never before heard. The "harsh noise" genre, pioneered by
such Japanese masters as Merzbow, Masonna and Kazumoto Endo, has been violently brewing in the musical underground for decades, and is now being recognized worldwide as the new standard in extreme music. Where so-called "extreme" metal and free jazz have failed to challenge listeners with new ideas, the noise world pummels audiences with the sound of electronic music
gone insane, stripped of its precious "beats" and dropped into a sonic blender. Bring your earplugs and an open mind, and prepare to leave mentally abused, enlightened and exhausted. A once-a-year event not to be missed.
