Instrumental Improvisation Workshop with the Tiptons
The Tiptons band is an all-female sax quartet with percussion whose name pays tribute to Billy Tipton, a woman musician who lived as a man in the music scene for more than 50 years. Similarly unbound by convention, the Tiptons do their own thing, composing and arranging repertoire ranging from New Orleans jump groove to hip hop, punk to East European, klezmer and beyond. This hands-on workshop will focus on improvisation techniques and various spontaneous/compositional approaches for live performance.
