Sarah Cahill and Christopher Froh
In preparation for travelling to the Nuovi Spazi Musicali festival in Rome, pianist Sarah Cahill and percussionist Christopher Froh present a concert featuring new works by Bay Area composers as part of the Berkeley Arts Festival. Included on the program of percussion and piano duos, percussion solos, and piano solos is Petrolio (1994) by Luciano Chessa, who lives in Berkeley and teaches at UC Davis; China Gates (1977) by John Adams; Four Studies of Light and Dark (1989) by Cindy Cox, who teaches at UC Berkeley; The Language of Pilots (2004) by Christopher Burns, formerly of Stanford University; and Linea Negra by Laurie San Martin, a Berkeley native who teaches at UC Davis. A few of the composers will be present to speak about their work.
Cahill and Froh will also perform Tania Leon's "Mistica" (2003), Frederic Rzewski's "Snippets" (1994), and Stefano Taglietti's "White Point" (2004).
Cahill and Froh are both active members of the Bay Area's new music scene, with extensive performing, touring, and recording careers.
Four days after their Berkeley Arts Festival concert, they will perform this program in the Nuovi Spazi Musicali festival in Rome, Italy.
