8pm Phillip Greenlief Solo saxophone
9pm Jim Ryan's Forward Energy
Jim Ryan - tenor & Alto Saxophone, flute
Alicia Magan(L.A.) - tenor saxophone
Stephen Flinn - drums

I have been performing solo off and on since the late 1970’s. The material I’ve used has been varied – original compositions, unusual and not so unusual meditations on jazz standards, purely improvised material, games I created for solo improvisations, selections from “saxophone literature”, or perhaps musical readings of literary works. More recently (since 2001) I have been working mainly with compositions – some of which were written for me. This performance will be completely improvised. I hope to present the listeners at this concert with a history of my relationship to my instrument – the tenor saxophone. Please come down and join myself and Jim Ryan’s Forward Energy for an evening of improvised music and a generous dose of saxophone.

Jim Ryan's latest highly controversial CD release, Where Are They?, has rocked the ever increasing conservative agenda and will present some of his powerful Forward Energy music at the LSG with fire music mavin Alicia Magan and the never ending surprises from drummer Stephen Flinn. With Jim Ryan you get a full bodied exploration from lyrical flute work to full force high energy driving free wheeling chaos.
Former Forward Energy rotating guests include the legendary former Blue Note trumpet player Eddie Gale who can also be heard on his latest recording.
