BIOGRAPHIES
Airto Moreira,
a professional musician since the age of 13, has played and recorded with
such musicians as Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Quincy Jones, Paul Simon, and
Carlos Santana. He has been voted Downbeat Magazine's
percussionist-of-the-year more than 20 times.
Vernon Bush,
singer/songwriter, musician, and recording artist, has worked with artists
such as Whitney Houston and Gladys Knight. Musical director and featured
vocalist at the world-renowned Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco, his

Fabian Redrovan,
a fine arts filmmaker/photographer, has been producing, directing, shooting,
and editing films in the Bay Area. He wrote, shot, directed and edited the
award-winning short film Nation of Stones (1999) and the distinctive Finding
la Llorona (2004).
James Sherman,
is an award-winning playwright and Second City actor and director who has
led workshops in improvisational theatre all over the world for colleges,
universities, and corporations.
Alli Starr,
founded Dancers Without Borders and Cultural Links in San Francisco, and is
cofounder of Art and Revolution, a multi-city movement of artist-activists
who revitalize political action using nonviolence, street theater, dance,
music, poetry, and giant puppetry.
Tandy Beal,
dancer, choreographer, actress, comedienne, and dreamer, has performed as a
solo artist and with her own ensemble in major cities and festivals
throughout the world. She was artistic director of the Pickle Family Circus
from 1991-2000.
Performers:
Hannibal Lokumbe,
This Jazz Trumpeter and Poet's music has been informed by the spirituals he
heard in the cotton fields of Texas where he once worked and the drums of
the Masai, with whom he lived in Africa. This musician, who plays regularly
at the world's major jazz festivals, has collaborated with T. Bone Walker,
Jackie Wilson, Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, among many others. He has received a
Grammy nomination and composed more than 150 compositions from string
quartets and symphonies, to operas and masses. His works have been performed
by the Kronos Quartet and by such orchestras as the Baltimore Symphony, the
Chicago Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Saint Louis Symphony.
Mr. Lokumbe is also the author of a book of inspirational poems and a play.
Most recently, he was commissioned by the Abyssinian Baptist Church to
compose a mass, which he has entitled Eternal.
John Santos,
One of the foremost exponents of Afro-Latin music in the world today. He is
known for his innovative use of traditional forms and instruments in
combination with contemporary music, and has earned much respect and
recognition as a record and event producer. He has performed, recorded and
studied with acknowledged masters of the Afro-Latin and Jazz idioms such as
Cachao, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Lazaro Ros, Armando Peraza, Eddie
Palmieri, Patato Valdés, Francisco Aguabella, Orestes Vilató, Rene López,
Max Roach, Walfredo de los Reyes, Milton Cardona, Roberto Borrell and
Chocolate Armenteros.
The Snake Trio,
Jackeline Rago, Donna Viscuso and Saul Sierra comprise The Snake Trio who
mix the Cuatro, Mandolin, Bandola, Percussion, Flute, Alto Saxophone and
Bass to form "Latin Jazz with a cool Venezuelan Twist...." All three are
have traveled and played internationally with other musical greats. "All are

Miriam Peretz,
Teaches and performs dances from the Middle-East, the Silk Road (Persia &
Central Asia,) and the Roma "Gypsy" trail. She is a member of "Ballet
Afsaneh" Persian and Central Asian Dance Company, and has been a featured
soloist both in the U.S. and abroad. Summer of 2005 Miriam will be a
featured soloist in the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival at the Palace of
Fine Arts, at the Montgomery Theatre, the Palace of Legion of Honor, and on
tour abroad with the acclaimed Persian Ney player Amir Shahsar. Miriam is
