Corey graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Music: Jazz. In 2004, he graduated from Cal Arts; Master of Fine Arts in Integrated Media/Music. There he collaborated with and studied under Leo Smith, Mark Dresser, Sara Roberts, Willie Winant, Tom Leeser, Nick Didkovsky, Vinny Golia, Gerry Hemmingway, and John Oswald. He currently performs with Ezra Buchla, Anni Rossi, Andre Vida, Jacob Koller, Brian Allen, in such bands as The Mae Shi, Brainkiller, Back Ted N-Ted, and some others. He recently recorded with Gowns, Treasure Mammal, Carla Bozulich, The Mountain Goats, Whitman, and Bob Bruno.

Ross has shared billing with Pharoah Sanders, John Tchcai, Ken Vandermark, Peter Brotzman, Pothole, Kenny Werner and Charlie Hunter. He is a frequent collaborator with tabla player/percussionist Alex Jenkins, free jazz hornman Tony Passarell, Hip-Hop Quintet the Addict Merchants, "Grad-student" rockers The Inversions, Sacramento saxophone legend Steve Gundhi, Bay Area drummer Sameer Gupta and David Boyce of the Broun Fellinis.
Sacramento's Alive N Kicking magazine awarded him the Spotlight Award for Guitarist of 2004. The Sacramento News and Review labeled him a music visionary of 2003 and nominated him for a SAMMIE (Sacramento Area Music Award) for 2004.
