at the sculpture garden of noted sculptor Bruce Beasley

4-8pm Saturday July 29. Family-friendly. Wheelchair accessible.
An unusual series of sonic explorations, including massive bronze plates suspended by crane, interactive learning virtual birds in cages respond to their environment and teach their rhythms to the others. Hybrids are created with distinct Asian plucked string instruments. Speakers float and twirl in the reflecting pool. Giant sculptures tick and gurgle away. Sounds scurry across the garden. Massive bronze benches make train journeys without moving. Cocoons of sound provide shelter from heavy traffic.
Come see Sound Garden Summer 2006, Hugh's newest 30-channel soundscape.
The experimental outdoor laboratory open house will be July 29, 2006, 4-8pm. This event is an interdisciplinary project with sculptor Bruce Beasley, who has lent his space for this 32-channel environment of sound. There will be lots of sculpture to look at and an interactive collaboration to explore.
Technologically supported as always by Sonic Impact, this one-day only project uses 5 computers and one thousand feet of cable, driving 32 unique channels of sound
In West Oakland, right by the BART station and the Main Post Office. Enter on 3rd St between Lewis and Henry.
