Albert Ortega is a California-based sound artist, custom instrument builder, and an avid situationist who seeks to create unique psychoacoustic spaces using sources both real and imagined. His practice explores the tactile relationships of his body making sounds with objects among other bodies negotiating their presence within a space.tega
Coelacanth is the sound art collaboration between Loren Chasse and Jim Haynes, operating the tools of an imagined science to explore the various possibilities for sound to originate from traditionally non-musical materials.
2& is the duo Heather Heise and Roddy Schrock. Forging sound and video into supermodern structures, they investigate the fragility between the aural and the ocular. They will be performing Audible Memory (Triptych #1), an installation that examines the complexities of aural memory. The installation, consisting of a prominently placed microphone and a video monitor that prompts people to confide something audible. The audio samples are digitally recorded and later archived online for public perusal, playing the real--fixed digital technology--against the nostalgic acts of preserving otherwise ephemeral moments.
The final component of Audible Memory (Triptych #1) is a musical performance that remembers and recontextualizes what was spoken at the installation site.
