The Death Set is fuzzed out “gutter-pop” for the experimental jet set. They (originally from Sydney) blend pop-infused electro-candy backing tracks with driving guitar and crunched and distorted vocal ranting. Death Set are akin to other energetic and wild live shows like Japanther, XBXRX and Lightning Bolt.
Ponytail formed in Baltimore as a conceptual art experiment and has since invigorated the live music scene with two guitars, drums, and a singer whose only goal may be to cut through the malaise and capture a spirit of smiling rebellion in the midst of music industry fatigue. Their energy-based music will leave you smiling with a new optimism.
Bolivar Zoar was formed by three women (Mary Clare Brzytwa, Ava Mendoza,
Theresa Wong) who decided that instead of playing their instruments traditionally, they would rather just bang on them like apes. The trio's music teeters between civilized, tightly structured rock forms, unwittingly classical contrapuntal themes, and primal chest beating forays into the dense jungle of improvisation.
Eggs on Legs is a new local trio, sweet and quirky, guitar, bass, drums, with shared singing duties.
