The District is a recently formed group of long time improvising Bay Area musicians who have come together to play an eclectic flow of strong grooves blended with outside madness. The San Francisco Mission District based group’s name is dedicated to rich musical melting pots of the Mission and the historic District Six community of Capetown. You will hear Brazil, Trinidad, New Orleans, and lots of South Africa - some Trane, some Van, some Sonny, Dudu, Abdullah, Cecil, Janacek - take your pick. In other words – no boundaries, and the music will go where it takes us.
