the emma goldman bust-out brigade featuring Mike Watt and Devin Hoff

in a benefit for Leonard Peltier

(with special guest musicians and speakers)

(415) 255-7227

Leonard Peltier is a political prisoner, an indigenous resistance activist in jail for over 30 years for struggling for freedom and self-determination.

His conviction was based on what many say was fabricated and suppressed evidence. A parole hearing--the first in years--is scheduled for July 28th; we are holding this benefit to re awaken awareness of Leonard's ongoing struggles in advance of this hearing. All proceeds beyond expenses will go directly to assist Leonard in his legal and other expenses, and--hopefully- to help him resettle if and when he is released.

"Silence, they say, is the voice of complicity.
But silence is impossible.
Silence screams.
Silence is a message,
just as doing nothing is an act.
Let who you are ring out & resonate
in every word & every deed.
Yes, become who you are.
There's no sidestepping your own being
or your own responsibility.
What you do is who you are.
You are your own comeuppance.
You become your own message.
You are the message."
