Jacob Lindsay was born, raised and lives in Oakland, CA. He studied clarinet with Ben Goldberg, Jim Freeman, and Mark Brandenburg, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from UC Santa Cruz. He has performed in such ensembles as Marco Eneidi's American Jungle Orchestra, Ben Goldberg's Brainchild, and sfSound, as well as participating in and leading his own ensembles including The Idea of West, Jus, Yellowcake and Sextet. Jacob performs in many styles but focuses on the continuum of music from American Free Jazz through European Free Improvisation into its current incarnations. He plays the full range of clarinets from Ab Piccolo to Bb Contrabass.
