In addition to her national-level reputation as a spoken word artist, author and performer, Solidad Decosta is also a pianist and composer. She has been playing piano since the age of 7, studied piano and music composition with W.A. Mathieu and electronic music with Allen Strange. She holds a BA in Humanities (Music emphasis) from New College of California, and an MFA in Writing from California College of the Arts. Her first album of solo piano improvisations will be out in early 2007, on Garrulous Workers.
