Rising from the ashes of their first outing as “Worse Jazz”, a fiery, high speed improjazz project, “T.O.O.T.” blazes new trails of shifting tempos and timbres with voice, piano, reeds and electronics, lighting the way to a bright new future.
Andrew Jamieson's arrangements bring the dissonance and creativity of experimental music into "dialogue" with African American spirituals and the music of the black church. Listen for the way these two traditions "talk" to one another. There may be places where they agree, places where they disagree or discord emerges, and places where they can learn from one another. Andrew's set celebrates the official release of his album Heard the Voice, which features solo arrangements of spirituals and gospel songs.
