Dohee Lee with Raphael Radna: MU/巫 (Connector)

Using cutting-edge wireless sensors to control technology and seamlessly integrate sound, dance, singing, and percussion, acclaimed Bay Area-based artist Dohee Lee brings to the Poppy a singular presence that blends her Korean roots with postmodern performance styles and electronics. Lee’s ritualistic approach to composition and choreography, which frames her creation in the form of Korean shamanic ritual, will be accompanied by composer/multi-instrumentalist Raphael Radna.

Dohee Lee, born on Jeju Island, South Korea, is trained at the master level in Korean percussion and vocals. In 2002, she immigrated to Oakland, CA.

Raphael Radna is an Oakland-based composer, multi-instrumentalist, and music technologist specializing in the development of interactive systems for electroacoustic music performance. His work focuses on audio signal analysis and features extraction as means of establishing expressive relationships between acoustic and electronic sound. Raphael holds an MFA in electronic music and recording media from Mills College.
