Boston-based saxophonist & composer Ken Field (Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, Sesame St) is making a rare visit to the Bay Area. He'll be passing thru on his way home from a month in Australia, where he led a 100-piece second line brass band at two music festivals.
Amy X Neuburg (Oakland, CA) is known for her innovative use of live looping with electronic percussion and for her irreverently genre-crossing works for voice, live electronics, and chamber ensembles over several decades.
The two met while on a composing grant jury for the American Composers Forum in Minnesota several years ago. This will be their first collaboration.

Comprising four of the most thoughtful and innovative improvising musicians in the Bay Area, this quartet has been honing their sound through regular rehearsals for a number of years, with only a handful of performances. This is a rare opportunity to hear this unique group in action. Synthesizing many of the recent styles of contemporary music into a surprisingly unified and fresh approach to free improvisation, the group creates dynamic and sonically-rich textures, often with rapid changes and always with a touch of humor.
"I'm excited about this group." -T. Perkis.
