Maggi Payne / Quark Matters (Farhadian, Vinkeloe, Robinson, Reed, and Perkis)

QUARKS MATTER: the five QUARKS/musicians come from very different musical backgrounds and meet for the first time in this constellation. Thea Farhadian is a classical trained violinist, also very well versed into electronics. She spends several months every year in her second home Berlin. Amy Reed is a visual artist, songwriter, and composer based in Sacramento. Tim Perkis plays diverse electronic devices and has spent an `imprudent amount of time playing unpopular music, building nearly useless gizmos and making films about people not unlike himself`. Biggi Vinkeloe is a classical trained flutist and a jazz trained saxophonist, and performs genre bending from gregorian to free bop to salsa music. She spends her time between Sweden and California. Donald Robinson is a well acknowledged jazz / improv drummer, based in the Bay but touring often European countries. With acoustic instruments (guitar, saxophone, flute, violin, drums) in combination with electronic devices, the musicians create surprising storytelling weaving in melodies, songs, rhythmical patterns and unexpected sounds.
Maggi Payne is a composer, flutist, video artist, recording engineer/editor, and historical remastering engineer who creates electroacoustic, instrumental, vocal works, and works involving visuals (video, dance, film, slides).
