Greenlief / Vatcher DUO and TRIO: Adams Mezzacappa Nordeson

1st set: Adams – Mezzacappa – Nordeson TRIO: These Bay Area improvisers converge in original inventions that traverse abstract soundscapes to angular grooves, melodic flights and collective ruminations. Learn more about the performers at Steve Adams, Lisa Mezzacappa, and Kjell Nordeson.

2nd set: Drummer Michael Vatcher (John Zorn, Roscoe Mitchell, et. al.) will perform in duo with local saxophone wizard Phillip Greenlief in a series of free improvisations. Vatcher has long been a mainstay on the European free improvisation scene, and has recently relocated to NYC. This visit is his first since 2007. The duo has been working together since the early 1990’s, and explores all manner of sound, melody and rhythm in a high-wire dialogue fueled with intelligence and intensity.
