Arab.AMP presents Magda Mayas
Arab.AMP is delighted to present a solo evening of work by Magda Mayas, a pianist living in Berlin. Over the past 20 years, she developed a vocabulary utilizing both the inside as well as the exterior parts of the piano, using amplification, preparations and objects that become extensions of the instrument itself. She explores textural, linear sound collage, and has developed a set of techniques that draw on the history of prepared and inside piano vocabulary, but are highly individualized and expand the language for internal piano music making.
Arab.AMP is a platform for the work of Arab Experimentalists working in the region and its diasporas. Arab Experimentalism can be currently defined as a field that accumulates regional and diasporic realities and futures through transgressive arts practices. Arab.AMP celebrates the plurality of Arab voices operating in futurism, the Avant Garde and experimental live art. Our programming is in conversation with, and inclusive of, the work of other diasporas and indigenous communities. This nomadic platform works with partnering organizations to support its tours, commission and discourse.
