Way Out West Concert Series - The Jason Levis Septet

CJC's Way Out West Concert Series provides composer-performers from the Bay Area and beyond with a Tuesday evening showcase for forward-looking original work in jazz and related genres. Join us weekly in Rendon Hall for Way Out West!

Bay Area drummer, composer and bandleader Jason Levis visits with his new Septet to premiere a series of musical suites merging the energy and spontaneity of jazz improvisation with the nuance and rigor of classical composition. The music transverses the planes of melody, harmony, and groove in an unorthodox manner: fraying the edges, deconstructing the framework, and super-imposing tone, timbre and time. Joining Levis are long-time musical collaborators and compatriots Rob Ewing, Max Miller-Loran, Beth Schenck, Cory Wright, Lisa Mezzacappa, and Mark Clifford ensuring an evening of thoughtful connection and intuitive joy.
