Brenner Atwal Goldberg present an evening of false dichotomy, .... and a re-reckoning of all the places you didn't know you hadn't quite forgotten where you used to put them or not at all.
Nate Brenner - bass, electronics; Hamir Atwal - drums, electronics;
Ben Goldberg - clarinet.
Hamir thought it would be a good idea to get Nate and Ben together to see what happened. So they went over to 25th Street Studios in Oakland and told Jay Pellicci to let them know when 40 minutes was up. After erasing a bunch of unnecessary clarinet parts, this became "Break Time at the Cyclotron" (title by Dean Young), their first record, which you can find on the Minus Zero label on Bandcamp (all proceeds to Planned Parenthood). Aside from that 40 minutes, they have played together in two shows, both in the past couple of months, once opening for Schimscheimer Family Trio and once opening for Nels Cline and Yuka Honda. Really looking forward to bringing the music to the California Jazz Conservatory.
