About the Artists:

Xyla

Though she originally moved west in 2013 to study classical French Horn performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Houston-born Xyla has built a beautiful life in San Francisco as an all-genre electronic music producer. She is most recently known for blurring the lines between house, breakbeat, and footwork, and is often influenced by jazz and R&B. Her inspirations come from a mixed bag of musicians including Joe Henderson, DJ Rashad, J Dilla, and Brandy.

Somni

Somni is Leo Shulman, a UK born, LA based producer and singer/songwriter. Recently featured as a Best New Artist on Pigeons and Planes and NPR, his latest album “Home” has been described as having “a wonderfully home-spun feel, drawing on beat tape production and home recording influences to create a psychedelic patchwork of soulful, groovy productions that take us on a journey across a sun-hardened landscape” (Future Music Magazine). Born into a family of classical musicians, Leo started making music at an early age, studying classical, jazz, and folk music, with guitar being his main instrument. He switched his main focus to beatmaking in his teens, drawing inspiration from LA beat scene titans like Flying Lotus, Shlohmo, and Teebs, as well as UK based artists like Burial, Amon Tobin, and Portishead. Now signed to LA based label Friends of Friends, Somni released his debut album Bloom in 2018, and his follow up Home in March 2020.
