Doors will open at 7 and music will begin at 7:30. Food and drinks will be served, and all donations collected go directly to musicians.

The Opening Ears concert series was born out of the notion that the algorithms that shape the content we consume are not going to bring us to the wildly creative music that is happening all around us in the Bay.

In the blur between acoustic and amplified, synthetic and analog, "algo-rhythm" and improvisation, clarity is forged anew only if you look ahead. Swinging serious sonic sledgehammers for a threefold lifetime now, Bjll Dingalls [Tom Djll (trumpet & electronics) + Bill Hsu (electronics) + Matt Ingalls (clarinet & electronics)] lay the railroad into terra incognita.


The duo of double-bassist Tim Duff and scat singer Lorin Benedict explores the outer-reaches of musical expression by improvising freely. In this performance, they will craft a long-form piece. Expect dynamic interplay and (possibly) extended solo sections as well! In addition to free improvisation, Tim's work also extends into songwriting and American roots music; Lorin's music lives very often within the jazz realm.
