"chips/bits" catalogues my work with 8-bit (and lower) electronics over the last several years. The focus is on compositions for the audio hardware of retro video game consoles (the Nintendo Game Boy and Famicom), but also includes homemade electronics, other odd lofi devices, and the Japanese voice synthesizer Vocaloid. Stylistically, the music ranges from more conventional chiptunes to harsh noise, ambient, and contemporary classical music. In this collection I explore the experimental compositional potential for these primitive yet soulful technologies.
