Michael Gendreau
Where other kids saw buildings, Gendreau (Crawling With Tarts) saw speakers in need of proper inputs. Recording infrasonic vibrations of interior spaces, he would then sound the structure’s resonances as an additional instrument in his site-specific compositions. What he achieves is vibration beyond sound, to sense time and space abutted in their infinite dimension in a kind of materialist darsana.

Fraid o’ Freyja
The psychedelic alter ego of Thingamajigs Performance Group, ‘Fraid o’ Freyja features a stripped-down trio of electric guitar (Edward Schocker), drums (Suki O’Kane), and Wurlitzer organ (Dylan Bolles), all prepared in just intonation. Owing as much to Danzig as Taoism, their improvised performances are heavy, ecstatic, loud, and long.

Roberts & Goff
At sea is the best of all existential metaphors, eyes bobbing above an undrinkable abundance, tender junk exposed to unfathomable chaos, we're chumming for Cthulhu. Noise miniaturists, Angela Roberts & Scott Goff, wield broken cello and microcircuits to erect an intricate soundship inside your skull. The thing about a schooner in your head, you'll never get it out again. Nothing to do but jump overboard into the boat that's on board you and sail the surge.

Nurse Betty
Nurse Betty is a noise experiment by Dianne Lynn of Homoglochini, Weird Ear Records, and LCM. Bipolar pulsing futzed out of modular synths, sequencers, and field recordings. Inspired by concepts and processes such as circulation, osmosis, pressure, and release. This will be Nurse Betty's SF premier!  More...

Set 1, 8pm: Lucian Ban & Mat Maneri perform works from their hit ECM album Transylvanian Concert • Set 2, 9pm: Headboggle & Joe Lasqo: Space Ghost Études — 2 pianos, 2 electronics tables, 2 sets of objects & toys, & 2 very odd musicians. Thu 27 Oct @ Center for New Music

◉ Set 1, 8pm: Lucian Ban & Mat Maneri: Transylvanian Concert

When NYC-based Romanian piano master Lucian Ban and virtuoso violist Mat Maneri joined up for a concert in an opera house in Târgu Mureș in the middle of Romania’s Transylvania region, the music was, as JazzTimes puts it, "as close as it gets to Goth jazz". The hit album, informed by the twin traditions of jazz and brooding European chamber music, has won critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, including several Best Album of 2013 awards, and has spawned continuous touring.

◉ Set 2, 9pm: Headboggle & Joe Lasqo: Space Ghost Études — 2 pianos, 2 electronics tables, 2 sets of objects & toys, & 2 very odd musicians

Enigmatic, ectoplasmic, culturally recycled into an ironic Cartoon Network drift-meme, and, by definition, beyond-stratospherically high, Space Ghost serves as an apt metaphor for the series of studies in synchronous | asynchronous de-coherent interstellar entanglement which Headboggle (Derek Gedalecia) & Joe Lasqo will present. In honor of Space Ghost, a wide variety of interplanetary and deep space sound samples, up to and including the sound of the Big Bang, will be used.  More...

The performance will be broadcast over low-power radio transmitters on many different channels, and audience members are invited to come prepared with battery-powered radios to tune in to the performance live in the space.  More...
