Serving the San Francisco Bay Area New Music Community

Sat, May 4 2019 8:00 PM

A quintet of well-known improvisors converge for the first time as a quintet at Center for New Music.

Sweden-based multi-instrumentalist Biggi Vinkeloe is a frequent vistior to the Bay Area and has long-standing collaborations with both Brown and Robinson, including a CD on the Rastascan label. Tim Perkis is a founder of computer network music with the League of Automatic Music Composers and The Hub who has collaborated widely as an improvisor in diverse settings or more than twenty years. Theresa Wong is a composer-performer known for her collaborations with instrument-builder Ellen Fullman, Tin Hat Trio’s Carla Kihlstedt, and recently with Brown and oboist Kyle Bruckmann in the Chromelodia Project. The evening will open with duos and trios of the players in different combinations, culminating in a long form quintet improvisation on the second set.

Cost: $10-15
