Berkeley]Bay Area musician and educator
Chris Trinidad, joined by ethnomusicologist Noah Rosen, hosts an informal presentation, salon, and performance to celebrate the intersecting timelines of Hispanic Heritage Month and Filipino American History Month. The evening explores real and imagined musical connections between the Philippines and Cuba, given the islands’ shared Spanish colonial history. What if Cuban musicians from the early 20th century heard the kundiman, harana, and danzas that came from the Philippines of the late 19th century? What if Filipino musicians danced to the Cuban orquestas, charangas, and conjuntos?
Light refreshments including lumpia, pancit, and Calamansi juice will be served!

Oakland]Matt Robidoux presents the Bay Area premiere of "The Spiral Worker," a connector within a rhizomatic network, fundamentally distinct from tree-like hierarchical structures that impose predetermined order. Drawing from Deleuze and Guattari's concept of the rhizome and Stockhausen’s moment form, this happening establishes multiple entry points and non-linear pathways through which performers engage with material transformation: corn synth, corn silk, corn husk.
Rodrigo Barriga is a composer and performer based in Santa Cruz. His music explores performer interaction and participants’ relationship to space. His project, the
Rodrigo Barriga Ensemble, focuses on the performance of improvised and indeterminate music as well as performance art, often through the interpretation of text and graphic scores.

Laetitia Sonami in a series of performances and archival explorations examining the intersections of voice, gesture, memory, and machine. Through What Happened III-Now, archival footage of the lady’s glove, and a Song for two Mothers, Sonami explores evolving relationships between the body and technology using custom-built instruments, live electronics, and machine learning systems. Her work embraces unpredictability, abstraction, and embodied interaction, challenging conventional notions of control while revealing the possibilities of human-machine collaboration.
