Zodiac Trio + Loren Benedict

Jeong Lim Yang, bass
Santiago Leibson, piano
Mark Ferber, drums
Loren Benedict, voice

We have a good one coming up on Saturday featuring bassist and composer Jeong Lim Yang's Zodiac Trio. Starting in 2022, the Zodiac Trio has been working on reimagining Mary Lou Williams's masterful Zodiac Suite (1945). The trio has performed across the US and abroad at venues like Lincoln Center, SFJazz, and the Angel City Jazz Festival in Los Angeles. On Saturday they will be joined by renowned Bay Area scat singer and physicist Loren Benedict, making it a very large trio, indeed.

South Korean bassist Jeong Lim Yang is a prominent figure in new york city's music scene, collaborating with notable artists such as Jason Palmer, Oscar Noriega, John Chin, and Kenny Wollesen. Her debut album as a leader and composer, "déjà vu" (fresh sound, 2017), was honored as NPR's `best debut album of the year.'
