A quartet of internationally renowned improvisor/composers plays together in concert for the first time. The players are Chris Brown, piano and electronics; Ben Davis, cello; Danishta Rivero; and Marshall Trammell, drums. The musicians will employ a simple algorithm to play one all of the possible combinations of solos, duos, trios, and a quartet. In their group improvisations the focus is always on continuous listening and interdependence of the music created spontaneously by every player.  More...

The monthly series of improvisation research at Temescal Arts Center continues. Bring your instrument or come to listen. No advance notice needed — just show up. Small groups will be randomly assembled from submitted names immediately before each group plays. We try to keep transition time between groups at a minimum. Over by 10pm. Donations for the venue rental are encouraged.

In line with Oakland's emergency ordinance, please bring proof of vaccination.

One-Handed Witch is a silent film with shadow puppets and live musical score featuring organ and salvaged percussion instruments.
